We are the Rotary Club of Saugatuck Douglas – a very enthusiastic and engaged collection of people! Welcome to our club website.  Here you will be able to learn more about our dynamic and progressive Rotary club.  Rotary is the world's oldest service club organization and our club members are committed to service in both their local community as well as internationally.  We also support various youth and leadership programs in the community. Please explore the site to find out more about us and what we do.

The Once and Future Trail: Beating a Path to Saugatuck Through the Ages

When the Blue Star Trail connecting Saugatuck-Douglas and South Haven with a non-motorized recreation trailway is completed in 2020, a "back-to-the-future" idea will have come to fruition. This talk traces the historical connections between ancient footpaths and human attempts to travel them with today's modern, diverse, welcoming, and beautiful "Art Coast" amenities. You'll learn some surprising, irritating, and funny things about the history of this place we call "home."

Julie is a professional with Wolverine Worldwide based here in Grand Rapids. Interestingly, she has been to Batay 106 in the Dominican Republic, as a volunteer. She will share her experiences there and her passion for challenging volunteer work like this.

As Director of Education & Outreach, Liz share the FHC of West michigan's mission and key programming. She also discusses the ongoing LGBT housing issues incluidng that fact that while the SCOTUS legalized gay marriage, in many states (including Michigan) it is legal to discriminate against LGBT people in terms of housing.
